Universal Truths

Hi, I got a farwarded mail which is worth reading. These may be written by a person who is most negative, but many of them are true most of the time. You can have smile by seeing them happen not only to you ... go on..... buddies... --------------- Whenever I find the key to success, someone changes the lock. To Err is human, to forgive is not a COMPANY policy. The road to success…….. is always under construction. Alcohol doesn't solve any problems, but if you think again, neither does milk.. In order to get a Loan, you first need to prove that you don't need it. All the desirable things in life are either illegal, expensive or fattening. Since Light travels faster than Sound, people appear brighter before you hear them speak. Everyone has a scheme of getting rich….. which never works. If at first you don't succeed…. Destroy all evidence that you ever tried. You can never determine which side of the bread to butter. If it falls down, it will always land on the buttered

The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing... not healing, not curing... that is a friend who cares True friend Scolds like a DAD.. Reservation Policies in India

Today I got an offline forward: "  Wipro chairman Mr. Ajim Premji's comment on reservation: I think we should have job reservations in all the fields.I completely support the PM & all the politicians for promoting this.Let's start the reservation with our cricket team.We should have 10 % reservation for muslims,30 % for OBC, SC/ST like that.Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The 4 hit by an OBC player should be considered as a 6 and a 6 hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs.An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player.Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kmph to an OBC player. " I don't know whether Ajim Premji really said this, but this is the correct answer for the recent reservation policy change anouncement. Atleast our leaders sho

About Svec_Alumni Group ( Only for students/alumni of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College)

This group is the alumni group for SVNEC students. The policies of the group were very good when the group started. But after some time, the moderators of the group have started moderating the mails. Originally the moderation of mails started for moderating the porn/spam mails sent to the group. There is no problem in moderating the mails, but the groups members are not notified about the moderation policies. Recently I found that, moderators are approving only those mails which they think are use full. They are not even allowing the comments on the moderation policy to the group. The number of moderators are 4 but only the owner replies to the mails. What the other moderators are doing ? I am not able to send a message regarding anti-reservation protests to the group and I am notified after 2 days, the reason behind its rejection. The reason was that not all people are in India. This is happenning with many other members of svec alumni. We don't want to loose information s

Perspective ( Take Time To Think )

Today we have higher buildings and wider highways, but shorter temperments and narrower points of view. We spend more but enjoy less, We have bigger houses but smaller families, We have more compromises but less time, We have more knowledge, but less judgement, We have more medicines but less health. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk much, we love only a little, and we hate too much. We reached the moon and came back, but we find it troublesome to cross our own street and meet our neighbors. We have conquered the outer space, but not our inner space. We have higher income, but less morals...  These are times with more liberty but less joy... We have much more food, but less nutrition. These are days in which two salaries go home, but divorces increase. These are times of finer ho

Balance Your Life

A long time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself." The above story is very similar to the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies

Know what women say...

FINE - This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they  are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman  looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments.    FIVE MINUTES - This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes  that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so  it's an even trade.    NOTHING - This means "something," and you should be on your toes. "Nothing"  is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you  inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an  argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine".    GO AHEAD (With Raised Eyebrows!) - This is a dare. One that will result in  a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine".    GO AHEAD (Normal Eyebrows) - This means "I give up&q

Love Your Parents

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window. The Father asked his Son, "What is this?" The Son replied "It is a crow". After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?" The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow". After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, "What is this?" At this time some __expression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow". A little after, the Father again asked his Son t he 4th time, "What is this?" This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?" A little later the Father went to his ro

Self-Appraisal

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits. The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation: The boy asked, "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn? The woman replied, "I already have someone to cut my lawn. ""Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now." replied boy. The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who was presently cutting her lawn. The little boy found more perseverance and offered, "Lady, I'll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of North Palm beach, Florida. "Again the woman answered in the negative. With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all

Knowledge

A person who knows not, And knows not that he knows not, Is foolish. Disregard him. A person who knows not, And knows that he knows not. Is simple. Teach him. A person who knows not, but believes that he knows Is dangerous. Avoid him A person who knows, But does not know that he knows, Is asleep. Awake him. A person who knows, And knows that he knows' Is wise. Follow him

A small trip

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?" "It was great, Dad." "Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked. "Oh yeah," said the son. "So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father. The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our

Forgive and Forget !!

Life is Too Short A teacher once told each of her students to bring a clear plastic bag and a sack of potatoes to school. For every person they'd refused to forgive in their life's experience, they chose a potato, wrote on it the name and date, and put it in the plastic bag. Some of their bags were quite heavy. They were then told to carry this bag with them everywhere for one week, putting it beside their bed at night; on the car seat when driving; next to their desk at work. The hassle of lugging this around with them made it clear what a weight the were carrying spiritually, and how they had to pay attention to it all the time to not forget and keep leaving it in embarrassing places. Naturally, the condition of the potatoes deteriorated to a nasty slime. This was a great metaphor for the price we pay for keeping our pain and heavy negativity! Too often we think of forgiveness as a gift to the other person, and it clearly is for ourselves!! Life is too short to let the littl

The race of life

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle awakens. He has only one thought on his mind: To be able to run faster than the fastest lion. If he cannot, then he will be eaten. Every morning in Africa a lion awakens. He has only one thought on his mind: To be able to run faster than the slowest gazelle. If he cannot, he will die of hunger. Whether you choose to be a gazelle or a lion is of no consequence. It is enough to know that with the rising of the sun, you must run. And you must run faster than you did yesterday or you will die. " This is the race of life."

Steps to happiness

Everybody Knows: You can't be all things to all people. You can't do all things at once. You can't do all things equally well. You can't do all things better than everyone else. Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's. So: You have to find out who you are, and be that. You have to decide what comes first, and do that. You have to discover your strengths, and use them. You have to learn not to compete with others, Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*. Then: You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness. You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions. You will have learned to live with your limitations. You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due. And you'll be a most vital mortal. Dare To Believe: That you are a wonderful, unique person. That you are a once-in-all-history event. That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are. That life is not a problem

For My Friend

( From my friend ) Around the corner I have a friend, In this great city that has no end, Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, a year is gone. And I never see my old friends face, For life is a swift and terrible race, He knows I like him just as well, As in the days when I rang his bell. And he rang mine but we were younger then, And now we are busy, tired men. Tired of playing a foolish game, Tired of trying to make a name. "Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim Just to show that I'm thinking of him." But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, And distance between us grows and grows. Around the corner, yet miles away, "Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today." And that's what we get and deserve in the end. Around the corner, a vanished friend. Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell them. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when y

Save Inidan Economy

SAVE INDIA   !!! U CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO THE INDIAN ECONOMY BY FOLLOWING FEW SIMPLE STEPS. Small example, Before 5 months!              1 CAN $ = INDRs 32 After  5 months. Now it is   1 CAN $ = IND Rs 37 I don't think so, Canadian Economy is booming, but Indian Economy is Going Down .. Our Economy is in our hands Do u know this, INDIAN economy is in a crisis - As you are all aware ! INDIAlike many other ASIAN countries, INDIAis undergoing a severe economic crunch. Many INDIAN industries are closing down. The INDIAN economy is in a crisis and if we do not take proper steps to control those, we will be in a critical situation.   More than 30000 crore rupees of foreign ex! change are being siphoned out of our country on products such as cosmetics, snacks, tea, beverages...etc which are grown, produced and consumed here . A cold drink that costs only 70/80 paise to produce is sold for NINE rupees , and a major chunk of profits from these are sent abroad. This is a seri

No Excuses...

Don't you just hate it when people make excuses for their failures? So do I. But do you know what I hate even more? Finding myself making excuses for my failures! I have a policy that I try to live by: No excuses . Here are some thoughts on a "No Excuses" policy. People will respect you. When you say that there are no excuses, that you blew it, and that you take full responsibility to make the situation right, people will be astounded (since very few people make no excuses) and they will come to a greater respect of you. You will find yourself taking greater responsibility. When you know that your policy is to have no excuses, there will be less room for error because you will be doing everything that you can to make sure the job gets done! You will become the "go to" person. When someone wants something done, they will turn to you because they know that they can count on you to perform. And they know they won't get any excuses! This will i

Bend, but don't break...

One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly on the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush downstream, and listen to the chirps of birds and the rustling of leaves in the trees. I would also watch the bamboo trees bend under pressure from the wind and watch them return gracefully to their upright or original position after the wind had died down. When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to bounce back or return to it's original position, the word resilience comes to mind. When used in reference to a person this word means the ability to readily recover from shock, depression or any other situation that stretches the limits of a person's emotions. Have you ever felt like you are about to snap? Have you ever felt like you are at your breaking point? Thankfully, you have survived the experience to live to talk about it. During the experience you probably felt a mix of emotions that threatened your he
