Ramo Vigrahavan Dharmah

A great verse from Ramayana: आहार निद्रा भय मैथुनं च  सामान्यमेतत् पशुभिर्नराणाम् । धर्मो हि तेषामधिको विशेष:  धर्मेण हीनाः पशुभिः समानाः ॥ AhAra-nidrA-bhaya-maithunam cha samAnam_etat_pashubhir_narANAm | dharmo hi teShAm adhiko visheSho dharmeNa hInAH pashubhiH samAnAH|| Eating, Sleep, Fear and Sex ; these habits are common between human beings and animals. It is the Dharma which is the special quality of the human beings. Without the Dharma, they are similar to the animals.  Rama is The Embodiment Of Dharma.  Maaricha, while speaking to Ravana- (Aranya Kandam 37-13): रामो विग्रहवान् धर्मः साधुः सत्य पराक्रमः | राजा सर्वस्य लोकस्य देवानाम् इव वासवः || ३-३७-१३|| raamo vigrahavaan dharmaH saadhuH satya paraakramaH | raajaa sarvasya lokasya devaanaam iva vaasavaH || 3-37-13 "Rama is the embodiment of righteousness, he is an equable person with truthfulness as his valour, and as with Indra to all gods he is the king of entire world. Love your wife. Treat her as Queen.

Love her… when she sips on your coffee or tea. She only wants to make sure it tastes just right for you. Love her… when she “pushes” you to pray. She wants to be with you in Paradise. Love her… when she asks you to play with the kids. She did not "make" them on her own. Love her… when she is jealous. Out of all the men she can have, she chose you. Love her… when she has annoying little habits that drives you nuts. You have them too. Love her… when her cooking is bad. She tries. Love her… when she looks dishevelled in the morning. She always grooms herself up again. Love her… when she asks to help with the kids homework. She only wants you to be part of the home. Love her… when she asks if she looks fat. Your opinion counts, so tell her she’s beautiful. Love her… when she looks beautiful. She’s yours, so appreciate her. Love her… when she spends hours to get ready. She only wants to look her best for you. Love her… when she buys you gifts you...

The Cockroach Theory for Self Development - Don't React, Respond.

At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady.  She started screaming out of fear.  With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ... it landed on another lady in the group. Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter. The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behaviour of the cockroach on his shirt. When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant. Was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behaviour? If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?  He handled it near to perfection, ...

Boiling Frog Syndrome - Boiling a frog with out his knowing it.

Boiling a Frog Without His Knowing It. No sensation with an extremely slow rate of change .  The premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.  While the results of the experiment are in question , t he story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to significant changes that occur gradually . Full Story: Put a frog in a vessel of water and start heating the water… As the temperature of the water rises, the frog is able to adjust its body temperature accordingly… The frog keeps on adjusting with increase in temperature… Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust any more… At that point the frog decides to jump out… The frog tries to jump but is unable to do so, because it lost all its strength in adjusting with the water temperature… ...

The Triple Filter Test: Truth, Goodness and Usefulness

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?" "Wait a moment," Socrates replied. "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Test of Three." "Test of Three?" "That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my student let's take a moment to test what you're going to say. The first test is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" No," the man said, "actually I just heard about It." "All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?" "No, on ...

Why Do Hindus Worship Many Gods?

Beautiful answer from Dr. David Frawley to this question: Having many names for something is not necessarily a sign of ignorance of its real nature. On the contrary, it may indicate an intimate knowledge of it. For example, Eskimos have forty-eight different names for snow in their language because they know snow intimately in its different variations, not because they are ignorant of the fact that all snow is only one. The many different deities of Hinduism reflect such an intimate realization of the Divine on various levels .

One second.......Let me think, last night when I was going to bed I had a severe pain in my chest, but I don't remember anything after that, I think I had a sound sleep. It's morning now, ohh....... It's already 10:00 AM, where is my coffee? I will be late for office and my boss will get a chance to irritate me.. Where is everyone...??? I screamed. "I think there is a crowd outside my room, let me check." I said to myself. So many people..... Not all of them crying...... But why are some of them crying.... WHAT IS THIS??? I’m lying there on the floor... "I AM HERE" ....... I shouted!!! No one is listening. "LOOK ...
