Slow Dance - A poem written by a teenager with cancer.

This is a poem written by a teenager with cancer.  She wants to see how many people get her poem. It is quite the poem. Please pass it on.  This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital. It was sent by a medical doctor . Slow Dance Have you ever watched kids  On a merry-go-round?  Or listened to the rain  Slapping on the ground?  Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?  Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down.  Don't dance so fast. Time is short.  The music won't last.  Do you run through each day  On the fly?  When you ask How are you?  Do you hear the reply?  When the day is done  Do you lie in your bed  With the next hundred chores  Running through your head?  You'd better slow down.  Don't dance so fast. Time is short.  The music won't last. Ever told your child,  We'll do it tomor...

Where are you living now?

The Platinum Rule: Treat others the way they want to be treated

The Platinum Rule: "Treat others the way they want to be treated." We all know the Golden Rule: "Treat others the way you want to be treated." The Golden Rule implies the basic assumption that other people would like to be treated the way that you would like to be treated. The alternative to the Golden Rule is the Platinum Rule: "Treat others the way they want to be treated. Find out what respect means to others." The Platinum Rule accommodates the feelings of others.  You start finding out what respect means to others instead of just knowing what respect means to you. The focus of relationships shifts from "this is what I want, so I'll give everyone the same thing" to "let me first understand what they want and then I'll give it to them."

Enjoy the coffee. Don’t let the cups drive you.

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other’s cups.” “Now, if Life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and con...
